Settle the voice question first
If voice surgery is anywhere on your list, ask each surgeon which should come first, or whether both can be done together. Kamol, Yanhee and Bumrungrad do voice surgery in-house; with the others, ask how they plan around it.

Ask how they protect your vocal cords
The cords attach just behind the cartilage being reduced. Ask whether the surgeon checks their position during the operation, for example with a scope, and how much they expect to take off for your neck.

Send photos in profile
Send side-on photos with your head level and slightly raised, and say what else you're having done. Most people add a tracheal shave to other facial work, so the surgeon can plan it with the rest of your face.

How long do I need to stay in Bangkok after a tracheal shave?

Will a tracheal shave affect my voice?
Your voice often sounds hoarse or weaker for a while as the swelling settles. The vocal cords attach just behind the cartilage, which is why how much is removed matters. Our tracheal shave page explains the limits; ask your surgeon how they protect your voice.
Should I have voice surgery before a tracheal shave?
