About Bumrungrad International Hospital

When you're deciding who to trust with your body far from home, a hospital's track record matters, and Bumrungrad International Hospital has one of the longest in Bangkok. It opened on Sukhumvit Soi 3 in 1980 with 200 beds, moved into a new 12-storey building in 1997 and now has 580 inpatient beds and more than 1,200 physicians and dentists. In 2002 it became the first hospital in Asia accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), and by its own count patients from more than 180 countries come to it each year.

Since June 2021 its trans care has had a home of its own: the Pride Clinic, on the 16th floor of Building A, working to WPATH guidance. Endocrinologist Asst. Prof. Sira Korpaisarn leads hormone care, a speech-language pathologist runs voice and communication training, and laryngologist Dr. Premsuda Sombuntham, trained at the University of Toronto, sees voice surgery patients. Around the clinic stands a full general hospital, with intensive care and every specialty on one campus.

That depth is real reassurance if you are travelling to Bangkok on your own. A hospital counter at Suvarnabhumi Airport runs a free shuttle, the International Patient Services Center's coordinators help with appointments, embassy letters and visa extensions, and more than 100 full-time interpreters work across the hospital free of charge. The contact centre answers 24 hours a day, and the Pride Clinic has its own line, +66 2 011 5611.

For trans women, the Pride Clinic offers facial feminization of the forehead, nose, jaw and chin with tracheal shave, voice feminization surgery, breast augmentation and vaginoplasty, including peritoneal vaginoplasty. After vaginoplasty, plan on at least four weeks in Thailand. Get your surgeon and plan confirmed in writing. This is information to help you choose, not medical advice.
